Grand France Day 12 – Avignon

You may be surprised to know that in the city also known as ‘The City of the Popes” there are also quite a lot of Cathedrals, Churches and Basilicas.  There is even the Palace of the Popes.  BUT there are also some rather nice vineyards and we visited the famed Chateauneuf-du-Pope.  We tried really hard to only taste the wines, but, most of us failed and just drank them.  The 2005 Shiraz was particularly spectacular.

We wondered around the little village and picked up some bargains and some more wine – including Brad and Ange’s rather lovely Rose whose vineyard is close by (that’s Pitt and Jolie don’t you know).
