Grand France Day 13 – Carmague-Arles

We sailed through the night and arrived in the ancient city of Arles which pre-dates Christ.  There is much to see and do on any day of the year, but we were extra lucky to be visiting on a Festival day.  A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!  We joined the locals in watching a parade which including running bulls down the cobbled stone streets.

That evening many of us sat in the Roman Amphitheatre (dates from 90AD) and watch the bull festival.  This is not a bull fight, it involves young (and very fit) men chasing the bull to try and capture a little piece of string from its horns.
